The Walnut Treehouse

  • Cost £27,000

  • Planning and Design 2 weeks

  • Build 10 weeks

Designed to be multifunctional, with fun things for the kids and space for mum and dad to enjoy the sunset. The Walnut treehouse is a series of levels supported by TABs (treehouse attachment bolts) in the surrounding Fir trees. A mature Walnut grows alongside, and the tips of its branches and leaves grow over the steps and part of the deck. On the first platform is an open area big enough for a bench table. Above this is an enclosed sleeping/reading space with enough room for two adults or four children. Two windows at either end floor of the space with natural light. Back down on the platform is a 4-meter static bridge that links the two platforms. The second platform is an open triangular space supported by TABS in three Fir trees. This multi-functional space has been used for yoga, meditation sessions, and parties. Behind one of the trees in the corner are a small gate and a 36mm thick rope for a speedy exit to the ground. The first platform also has a speedy exit via a slide which takes you to the trampoline dug into the ground. Not far from here, offset to the side of the treehouse, is a sunken fire pit with a surrounding bench milled from a dead tree, which had been removed at the beginning of the project. Last but not least is the zip wire from the main house that will take you to the treehouse at lightning speed.
