The roundhouse was the dream of two young girls who wanted somewhere to play and share with the fairies who lived in their garden. Due to its location in a conservation area, the build was limited to 1m. The deck surrounds a mature beech tree, and the structure is self-supported on low-ground pressure feet to protect the tree’s roots. The house has an oblong footprint which gives the turret effect while gaining maximum floor space. The external walls are vertical larch and are all housed under a complex Cedar shingle roof. The windows are toughened glass as standard and floor the internal space with light. The internal walls a ply lined, and a custom Oak door seals the space. Larch spindles match the wall cladding and enclose the balcony beneath the handrail.
